Our Programs

Through our varied programs, we try to

  • Encourage parent involvement in every aspect of their child’s life
  • Enhance parents’ abilities to be supportive and nurturing
  • Promote positive parenting by helping parents build and strengthen a support network
  • Advocate the use of community resources
  • Strive to reduce the incidence of substance abuse
  • Educate families about the issues and concerns of aging parents and family members
  • Help prevent child abuse, family violence, and other negative family outcomes.

Alcohol & Drug Education - Family Resource Center of North Texas and Dallas Symposium offer the state-certified program "Texas Alcohol Education Program for Minors (MIP)." We also provide links to a variety of helpful resources.

Back to Basics - Back to Basics is a series specifically designed for parents who have been ordered by Child Protective Services or the courts to take parenting classes.

Car Seat Safety - Family Resource Center of North Texas has certified car safety technicians on staff to ensure your car seat is properly installed. Make an appointment to have your car seat installed.

For Kids' Sake - For Kids' Sake is a seminar designed for divorcing parents. It focuses on issues such as understanding the effect of divorce on children, gaining insight into children's perception of divorce and how to be a loving and supportive parent in the midst of divorce.

Parenting - Family Resource Center of North Texas offers a series of parenting classes that give parents the skills needed to effectively support their children as they grow from infants through middle school.

Prenatal - Prenatal classes cover topics related to having a baby such as changes in the mother's body, development of the baby, nutrition, labor and delivery, and breastfeeding.

Teddy Bear Cottage - TBC is an incentive program open to those enrolled in Family Resource Center of North Texas prenatal class. Eligible participants include pregnant moms, dads, and parenting families with children from newborn to twelve months. By practicing healthy, educational and fun activities with their new baby, parents can earn Teddy Credits which can be exchanged for baby clothes and nursery items.
